It has been a while since I collected links to newspaper articles about district court sentencings, but a number of pieces this morning seemed worth spotlighting:

• This article from Philadelphia reports on a significant variance in a fraud case involving a defendant who “once was considered a ‘super clerk’ on the floor of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.”

• This article from Texas reports on the sentencings in drug cases of four members of the so-called Texas Mexican Mafia.

• This article from Rhode Island provides background on next week’s scheduled resentencing of former Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci and reports that federal prosecutors say that Cianci “is making misrepresentations about financial losses he says he has suffered as a result of his racketeering-conspiracy conviction.”
