Perspectives on a flurry of Prez Trump’s latest clemency grants and on other criminal justice topics

Unsurprisingly, Prez Trump’s recent significant clemency work (basics here and here) has already engendered notable critical commentary.  I have rounded up some pieces on that topic, though I am still looking for commentary actively supporting his latest grants.  In addition, I have mixed in below some other notable criminal justice commentary catching my eye in recent days:

From the Chicago Tribune, “I prosecuted Larry Hoover. Here is why he should not have his sentences commuted.

From City Journal, “Revisiting the Worst Prosecutors of 2022: Where are they now?

From NBC News, “Trump’s pardons highlight Justice Department’s pullback from public corruption cases

From Entertainment Weekly, “Todd Chrisley admits he got special treatment in prison over Black inmates: ‘We know why I wasn’t denied that’

From Law360, “AI Video Pushes Boundaries Of Victim Impact Statements

From Law & Liberty, “Post-Woke Criminal Justice Reform

From the Los Angeles Times, “Even tough-on-crime district attorneys know prison reform is smart

From the New York Times, “Trump’s Flurry of Pardons Signals a Wholesale Effort to Redefine Crime

From R Street Institute, “The federal government should not interfere with local prosecutors

From the Washington Post, “Trump has let allies and supporters avoid centuries of prison time

UPDATE:  A commentor helfully flagged this Reason piece in support of a couple of the recent pardons: “Trump Rightly Pardons 2 Florida Divers Who Became Federal Felons Because of an Honest Mistake
