A thoughtful set of essays exploring “What Was the War on Drugs?”
Over the last few weeks, I have been very much enjoying a multi-part series of posts by Charles Fain Lehman at his Causal Fallacy Substack under the heading “What Was the War on Drugs?”. Though the topic of the drug war cannot be fully canvassed in just a handful of essays, Lehman covers a lot of interesting and valuable ground in these spaces, and he usefully provides a sympathetic, but still fairly balanced, account of the forces advancing this “war” and its arguable achievements. Though I could quibble with any number of statements (and omissions) in these pieces, they are individually and collectively worth a read. Here are all the parts of a series that wrapped up today:
“What Was the War on Drugs? Part I: Introduction”
“What Was the War on Drugs? Part II: The Nixon Era”
“What Was the War on Drugs? Part III: The Parents Movement”
“What Was the War on Drugs? Part IV: The Reagan Movement”
“What Was the War on Drugs? Part V: Two Cheers for the War on Drugs”
